When every drain in the house is slow at once, the fault is the main sewer line, not any one fixture. Roots find the joints of an older clay or cast line. The line bellies and holds water. A section collapses. We repair and replace sewer lines. Spot repair when the rest of the line is sound, full replacement when it is not. We do not default to the bigger ticket.

Franklin County requires septic systems within 500 feet of the Smith Mountain Lake shoreline to be pumped out or inspected every five years. When that inspection turns up a broken or root-cut sewer line, the line is plumbing work, and we repair and replace it.
